Thursday night, and no classes tomorrow…

Of course that is nothing new; this semester I never have classes on Fridays. But it struck me tonight, as, of course, it has struck me many nights before (I may be suffering a metaphoric concussion) that other college kids might look at a free Thursday night differently than me. If having a pseudo-frat house next door last year taught me anything, it is that the party apparently starts on Thursday, and woe betide anyone with an early test the next day. With this in mind, I review my Thursday evening.

Four episodes of a mediocre but humorous TV series.

Nathan Fillion as Castle

Oh Nathan Fillion, you are so dashing…

Wiping cat snot from my snotty cat.

Turning on the heat for the first time this fall, then fanning the smoke alarm until it stopped alarming.

Eating a dinner of eggs and vvvvverry cheesy potatoes to candlelight with a glass of milk. (The light in the kitchen isn’t angled properly to light the table and I have candles lying around….and match-boy isn’t home, so I don’t have to worry about anyone wanting to set things on fire but me)

Re-making my bed with my fantastically poofy feather comforter.

To top off this wonderful evening, I look forward to going to sleep under said comforter. I may even turn the heat back down, now that my nose has warmed up, to enjoy the blankets all the more.

Ooh, I know what I should do! I should make chocolate chip cookies! I’ve been wanting to make them for a week now, but I keep forgetting or losing energy or not wanting to face the dishes. On second thought, the kitchen floor is really cold, even with the heat on. Maybe I will wait on the cookies…

Beatrice, my snot-cat, is sad and snotty this week. She smells so awful and drools so much that I don’t want her near me. I’m an awful cat mother for rejecting my sick baby, but I can’t help it. Especially since this week I was so excited that I remade my bed with clean, cat-snot free sheets that I wouldn’t let her up onto the bed at all. Hopefully these next couple of months will allow me to reach a healthier equilibrium with her snot and her vet bills. Just dope her up, docs, it’s the best we can do.

On a side note, my neighbors (not frat-boys this year, although they seem similarly lackadaisical) apparently are polar bears and are making absurd amounts of noise outside. Party polar bears? With little polar party hats… I should make them a bunch of paper party hats with polar bears on them and leave them on my neighbor’s doorstep. Sometimes I miss living near the cowfield, where the neighbors were probably trying to get your attention if you could hear them. Except for the cows, but they didn’t mean it and at least they kept the noise down at night.
